Get started with PHP programming
What you'll need
- A working computer.
- A text editor.
- A web server capable of running PHP (and preferrably MySQL) on your local machine or a remote server.
Where to get it

- Use a text editor of your choice excluding ones like OpenOffice, LibreOffice, MS Word, etc. Something as simple as Notepad or as complex as Dreamweaver will do. If you want something that's free and more robust than Notepad, try these:
- If you're using a remote web server, make sure it supports PHP and MySQL. If you're using a local machine, install web server software. Check out XAMPP (our recommendation) for Windows/Mac. For Linux, research how to install Apache or the LAMP stack.
When you have those tools (and have confirmed they are working) you're total PHP-ready! Get started on some tutorials.Your first PHP programming »
